Food for Fines is Back!
Mayor Joe V. Sanchez Public Library is happy to announce the return of its annual canned food drive.
As the holiday season approaches, our library is looking forward to giving back to our community. The annual food drive, dubbed “Food for Fines,” is a season’s long effort to collect as many donations as possible for the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley located in Pharr, Texas. Community members are encouraged to donate dry and canned goods at the circulation desk.
In the spirit of giving, the library will waive any overdue fees on patron accounts when they donate one canned good per fee. Fee waivers are only valid for overdue movie or book fees from the Weslaco library.
Food for Fines will begin on November 7th and run through February 14th of next year. We look forward to your donations!
